SSM Graduation Recital- Sat. Dec 3 at Oakwood Village

Please join us this coming Saturday, December 3 at Oakwood Village for our first SSM Graduation Recital at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow

Graduations will be celebrated at two special recitals at the ends of each semester. We are now following guidelines that were established by Dr. Suzuki for graduations.  We will continue to adhere to the graduation parameters where the student is playing and studying at least in the middle of the next volume in order to graduate from the preceding  volume. Students who are ready to graduate will perform a solo from a select list of pieces as well as perform with their particular book specific graduation piece. The student is required to perform the volume that they are graduating from in their private studio. We are excited to truly celebrate these Book milestones in a very special way which honors the graduating students.

NEW Play In format– next Tuesday 9/28

Exciting changes for Play In Tuesdays!!

The faculty has re-evaluated our past Play In format to better serve the SSM community. Several critical changes have been made.

1. Graduations will no longer occur at Play Ins. Separate Graduation recitals will be held once each semester.
2. The Play In will be divided into two sections which will overlap during the middle time frame.

TWINKLERS- BOOK 3
tune at 4:15 and start play in at 4:30

BOOK 4- SONORA
tune at
4:45 and start play in at 5:00

TUNING for Play Ins- please be on time for tuning
TUNING will occur in a separate tuning room– please look for posted signs

Play In
Play Ins will be in Bradfield Hall  on the main level. There will be one door marked ENTER and one door marked EXIT to facilitate the exchange between the two sections of the Play In.
Please enter and exit as quietly as possible.
The overlap in the middle is a chance for the younger students to benefit from listening and watching the older students. Prelude and Sonora students will attend all Play Ins.
GOAL
The goal of Play Ins is to continue to elevate the musicianship of all of our students in a non competitive nurturing environment. Group classes will be able to showcase their progress in monthly pieces as deemed ready by the group teacher. Solo recital dress rehearsals will also occur during this time in a separate room.
