August, 2009
Dear Suzuki Strings of Madison Family,
Welcome to another year of wonderful music making! Group classes and play-ins will continue as usual on Tuesdays at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Check with your private teacher about which classes
are appropriate for your child or children. Formal solo recitals are scheduled throughout the year and we will also schedule some smaller, more informal home recitals. For a great motivator, take the
100 Days Club practice challenge!
We are going green, so you can find all the information you need - the registration form for the fall semester, the 2009-10 calendar, the group class schedule, and a reminder of our policies - on our web
site: www.suzukistringsofmadison.org. If you lack access to the web, your private teacher can provide you with paper copies.
We will kick off this year with a Play-In/Pot Luck on September 8 (earlier than normal so we don’t freeze!) The first performance opportunity is the annual Kids for Peace celebration at the
Madison Children’s Museum on September 12. (Consult the web page for details on these events.) This year we will have our Halloween concert in costume at the State Capitol on Halloween!
All students will have the opportunity to perform a holiday concert in December.
This is a Barn Dance year!! Students of all levels will learn some fiddle tunes and we’ll gather for performing and dancing in March. We’ll wrap up the year with a celebratory all-student concert in May.
We are very pleased to be honored with the privilege of being performance partners again with the Wisconsin Union Theater Concert Series. This year we host the Emerson String Quartet on January 22
and the Eroica Trio on March 11. We will also offer three in town “field trips” to attend concerts by the Madison Symphony Orchestra in Overture Hall and the Milwaukee Symphony at the Union Theater.
Private lesson tuition stays the same this year and we are simplifying the group tuition to one payment per child per semester. This fee covers two group classes per week and all necessary class materials,
play-ins, concerts, recitals, 100 Days Club, accompanists, and facility rentals. Over the course of the year this includes 60 classes and events at only $5.80 each! Please review the parent volunteer sheet
where there is also information about scholarship opportunities. Our fund raising efforts help keep costs low and provide funds for scholarships.
We need to keep our directory up to date, so please fill out the registration form thoroughly and give it to your private teacher along with your group tuition payment by September 29 to avoid a late fee. Make
sure we have your current email address since many communications are disseminated in that manner. Remember that you can always check SSM’s website, www.suzukistringsofmadison.org, for the latest
information regarding all of our activities. Also please pick up and read “The Scroll,” our monthly newsletter, available at play-ins.
From the faculty of Suzuki Strings of Madison, thank you for all your dedication to your child’s musical education and to our school. The Suzuki triangle works! Best wishes for a great year!

• Nothing is to be removed from or taped to the walls or woodwork without prior permission from the Office
Administrator. (inclusive of nails, tacks, screws, etc.)

assigned meeting space.
• It is expected that you will leave the building by 9:30 PM.
